Extract from the play "Songs to the livestock keeper" about poems from the book "The livestock keeper" by the Portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa, although in this work he used the heteronym Alberto Caeiro.

The original work is created for baritone, violin and piano, and later -i did the adaptation for soprano, flute and piano.

The entire work "Songs to the livestock keeper" hasn't yet been released as such, but instead has been released this extract of the work.

I have made two versions of this extract, one for baritone (the original) that hasn't yet been released, and another version for soprano, which has been released.

Sou um guardador de rebanhos.

O rebanho é os meus pensamentos

E os meus pensamentos são todos sensações.

Penso com os olhos e com os ouvidos

E com as mãos e os pés

E com o nariz e a boca.

Pensar uma flor é vê-la e cheirá-la

E comer um fruto é saber-lhe o sentido.

Por isso quando num dia de calor

Me sinto triste de gozá-lo tanto,

E me deito ao comprido na erva,

E fecho os olhos quentes,

Sinto todo o meu corpo deitado na realidade,

Sei a verdade o sou feliz.

Sóc un guardià de ramats...

Sóc un guardià de ramats.

El ramat són els meus pensaments i els meus pensaments són tots sensacions.

Penso amb els ulls i amb l’oïda

i amb les mans i amb els peus

i amb el nas i amb la boca.

Pensar una flor és veure-la i flairar-la

i menjar un fruit és saber-ne el sentit.

Per això, quan un dia xafogós

em sento trist de tant de gaudir-lo

i m’ajec ben llarg en l’herba

i acluco els ulls ardents,

em sento tot el cos ajagut en la realitat,

sé la veritat i sóc feliç.

I am a guardian of flocks.
The flock are my thoughts and my thoughts are all sensations.

I think with my eyes and my ear
and with hands and feet
and with the nose and mouth.

To think of a flower is to see it and to smell it
and to eat a fruit is to know the meaning.

So when a hot day
I feel sad to enjoy it so much
and long m'ajec in the grass
and close my eyes,
I feel the whole body lying in the reality,
I know the truth and I am happy.
